CIRCUSES, RODEOS AND MENAGERIES
Animals entering Wisconsin for circuses and rodeos or as part of menageries or petting zoos need:

  • Certificates of veterinary inspection
  • Import permits must be issued before arrival. Call 608-224-4874 weekdays between 7:45 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Central Time
  •  to get instructions and the permit application form.  The application form is also available online.
  • Official identification is required for all animals excluding steers and dogs. Call to check what’s needed for which species.
  • Health tests or vaccinations are required for different species.  Call 608-224-4874 to find out the requirements.

Please note:  Effective April 15, 2009, the Wisconsin livestock premises code for the first venue will be required on all import permit applications and on the certificates of veterinary inspection prior to issuance of the import permit.  The code number can be obtained from the owners/operators of the site.
